4th Annual African Village Arts Festival

This unique arts festival offers Live Performances, Visual Art Exhibitions and demonstrations, a Youth Studio hands-on projects for artists of all ages, Community art projects, Drum Circles, Traditional African Ceremonies, Ethnic Foods, and an Artist/ Vendor marketplace. Admission is free to this family-friendly event. Free parking is also available in walking distance at Franklin Alternative Middle School. In conjunction with the Festival we will also open a new exhibit featuring the work of Larry Winston Collins, Associate Professor at Miami University-Oxford. Columbus Moving Image Art Review

The Columbus Moving Image Art Review (CMIAR) will host its fourth of many quarterly local moving image screening events on August 20th from 8pm to 9:30pm at the Ohio State University’s Hagerty Hall Theatre room 180. CMIAR is a screening event for artist residing in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas. CMIAR was developed by two local moving image artists who wanted to create a way for the seventh art of film to return to a more appropriate presentation medium of the cinema house. The goal of CMIAR is to provide a quarterly screening event comprised of works from local artists working in the seventh art of the moving image. The screening event will be programmed with moving image work obtained through submissions. Figure Drawing Sessions

We’re partnering with reFINDesign Workshop to help you practice the art of drawing. Every Thursday, starting August 5th (except for holiday weeks), we will have figure drawing sessions at the Studio! Come join us from 7-10 PM @ 1119 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Columbus (the big white garage behind Surly Girl.) Only $10 per session or $25 for 3. Whether you’d just like to brush up your long lost college drawing skills — you’re a practicing artist — or you don’t have much experience and you want some guidance, you’re welcomed in our space. Ovation Online Nude Art Contest

Hello Ovation Community members,

We want you to bare your artwork!

We have a 2 week event coming in September (12-15) devoted to the artful nude. Body by Ovation will explore the entire range of art that depicts the human form. Starting in the stone age with the Venus of Willendorf, through Boticelli and Manet, we’ll explore the different interpretations of the human body throughout the centuries.

From now until August 9 we’ll be looking for tasteful* submissions focused on the human body. Upload artwork in any medium to the Ovation community and be sure to tag it with with the word “nude”. We will select the best work to showcase in a My Art promo on air during our Body by Ovation event!

Deadline: August 9
